Join me as I share the best affordable bulk organic and natural foods to buy from Azure Standard! Azure helps our family eat organic food on a budget.
Our family has been on a long journey to remove ultra-processed foods and excess sugar from our diets in favor of whole, natural, and organic foods.
As a family of six, we have to be mindful of our budget when shopping for organic food. We try to buy in bulk and make most of our foods from scratch.
We live in a rural mountain area, but thankfully, we do have an Azure Standard drop nearby that delivers monthly!
After reading Azure reviews from others for several years, I’m excited that I finally got started for myself! (You know you’re a adult when your pantry food purchases make you giddy.)
I spent a good deal of time comparing Azure prices with the prices I was paying for products from King Soopers, Costco, and Natural Grocers.
Although there are still certain foods I will source in town, I was pleased to find that many of the bulk Azure Standard brand foods were the best deal for me to buy!
I enjoy the convenience of picking up my Azure orders nearby instead of physically shopping the items myself. I’ve been very pleased with the quality of the products I’ve purchased.
What is Azure Standard?
Azure Standard is a family-owned, free and independent food supply chain that delivers food directly to customers at drop sites all around the US. They have an amazing selection of natural, organic and non-GMO foods.
Not only do they offer food, but they are also a wonderful source for all kinds of natural products for the home and garden.
You can find things like beeswax candles, seeds and plant starts, essential oils, lotions, soaps, clean laundry and dish powders, non-toxic cleaners, cosmetics, animal feeds, and even their own line of supplements!
Azure has high standards when it comes to the products they sell. This includes selling fruits that are not irradiated or coated in Apeel, going beyond minimum organic standards, and requiring transparency from their suppliers.
As their website states, “Azure customers know that their products are naturally free from any artificial additives and preservatives, GMOs, refined sugars or bleached flour…” You can read the specifics about their standards here.
They also offer the option to have your items shipped through the parcel service directly to your door, if that is your preference.
Azure standard does charge an 8.5% shipping fee for some states (mine included), so keep this in mind as you compare prices for the things you need to buy.
How It Works To Purchase Bulk Food From Azure
Azure Standard has no membership fees, so you can go to their website and take a peak at their products and prices anytime. You do not have to place an order every month.
Before you place your first order, you’ll need to set up an account and find and join a delivery drop site near you. You will receive instructions specific to your drop site after you get in contact with your drop site coordinator.
Then you will add your items to your “shopping cart” and “checkout” by the cutoff date. I like to add items to my “favorites” on their website for quicker ordering later.
You can continue to add or remove items from your order after checking out until the cutoff date actually arrives (a feature I really appreciate). Your method of payment won’t be charged until your order ships.
You’ll meet the truck at the designated time and location. There may be times you’ll have to be flexible in case the truck is running later than expected. You’ll pickup your order individually boxed and labeled with your name.
Any out-of-stock items won’t end up shipping, but your final price will be adjusted accordingly. Azure has responsive customer service if any problems should arise with your order.
Ways to Save More Money at Azure Standard
There are some great ways to increase your savings at Azure Standard in addition to buying organic foods in bulk.
Azure Standard Coupon Code for New Customers
Azure has generously provided a coupon code for my readers. You can get 15% off your first order over $100 delivered to your local drop location. Use my affiliate link and enter the code NEW15 at checkout.
Azure runs monthly sales (which can be found on their site and in their sales flyer) on specific items which can really bring the price down!
Then there is the Azure cash loyalty program. You can receive some cash back from your purchases to apply as store credit to future orders. Some bonus cash products will count towards extra credits each month.
And finally, they run a share program. You can receive $25 applied to your future order for a new customer you refer after they spend $100 using your personal share links or share code.
The Best Bulk Organic Foods to Buy From Azure Standard
Now let’s jump in and take a look at my favorite affordable finds!
1. Organic Wheat Berries and Grains
We go through a lot of wheat berries at our house! I mill my own flour for baking with a countertop stone mill (especially for sourdough bread). We cook wheat berries (whole or cracked) for porridges, grain bowls, or salads.
I typically purchase wheat berries in 25-pound bags and then transfer the wheat to food-grade buckets for storage.
Azure has great prices, and I was pleased to find that my wheat berries from Azure Standard are nice and clean!
Here are the varieties I have purchased:
- Organic hard red wheat berries
- Organic hard white wheat berries
- Heirloom soft white wheat berries
- Spelt
Azure even sells competitively-priced food grade buckets and gamma (screw top) lids.
2. Bulk Organic Loose Teas (Also Natural Medicinal Foods)
I’ve become increasingly interested in natural ways that we can support our wellness (especially during the cold and flu season). Buying these foods in bulk really helps our budget.
I purchase their organic cut and sifted rose hips, cut & sifted echinacea, and peppermint tea.
I add the rose hips into homemade elderberry syrup that I make from Azure’s organic whole elderberries.
3. Organic Bulk Spices and Herbs
Organic spices and herbs that we go through quick enough are much more affordable in bulk. Azure has a wide variety to choose from!
4. Organic Rice and Beans
We’ve really been enjoying Azure’s organic Thai jasmine rice and brown Thai jasmine rice. The brown rice has a mouth feel more similar to white rice than other brown rices we’ve had.
I save per ounce compared to the grocery store when I buy their rices in 5-pound packages.
They also have a great deal on dried and canned beans the more you can purchase and properly store at once.
You get more bang for your buck purchasing dried beans, because the weight you’re purchasing doesn’t include the water in canned beans.
5. Organic Seeds and Nuts
I like to buy organic hulled sesame seeds from Azure Standard for cooking and homemade tahini.
I also keep organic flax seeds, organic chia seeds and organic raw pumpkin seeds around for smoothies, homemade crackers, bread, and granola.
They have a good selection of organic nuts in bulk. I was previously getting a good price on nuts from Costco, but Costco has very few organic options.
6. Organic Bulk Pasta
We prefer to buy organic pasta (and usually whole wheat pasta), and Azure has a much wider variety to choose from than our grocery store. They even offer pastas made with ancient grains like khorasan and einkorn.
Their Azure brand pastas are the best deal!
7. Organic Baking Ingredients
I’ve found Azure Standard to be an affordable source to buy organic cacao, cocoa powders and organic chocolate chips.
We have begun to use their cacao powder to make our own healthier hot chocolate as we continue to replace the ultra-processed foods we were in the habit of buying before.
I also love that their prices for organic old-fashioned molasses and organic shredded coconut beat out my grocery store for similar products that aren’t even organic!
They also offer organic corn starch, organic arrowroot powder, and unbleached baking cups.
8. Organic Dried Fruit
Azure has a great selection of dried fruits to choose from, usually with no added sugar (they offer cranberries infused with apple juice). They are more affordable per ounce than what I have available in town.
We’ve enjoyed their organic dried apricots and are holding onto some organic conadria figs to make homemade fig bars. This month I’m ordering their organic dried apple rings.
9. Organic Frozen and Canned Fruits and Vegetables
They have competitive pricing on their boxes of organic frozen vegetables and canned fruits and vegetables (especially their Azure Market brand).
Sometimes they run great sales on brand-name items… like the Bionaturae or Jovial Foods brands for high quality Italian canned/jarred tomato products.
10. Organic Dairy Products
And finally, Azure sells 5-pound blocks of organic (and even raw milk) cheddar and organic mozzarella that beat prices I’ve found in town.
I also like buying their whole milk grass fed yogurt and organic cream cheese.
They even offer an A2 grass-fed milk for those that can’t source something similar locally.
Don’t forget, you can get 15% off your first order over $100 delivered to your local drop location. Use my affiliate link and enter the code NEW15 at checkout.
Other Staples To Buy From Azure Standard Depending on Where You Live
As I mentioned, I have Costco as a local source for a few bulk items that are usually cheaper per ounce than Azure for me. If you don’t have such an option, here are a few other bulk staples from Azure that are a great deal!
- Avocado oil
- Organic virgin coconut oil (they also offer coconut oil that is not virgin)
- Grass-fed ghee
- Grass-fed tallow
- Pure vanilla extract
- Organic quinoa
- Organic cane sugar
- Organic all-purpose flour
- Organic maple syrup
- Organic raw honey
- Avocado oil mayo
- Grass-fed butter
- Organic marinara sauce
